Smith Tower

Built in 1914 it is Seattle’ oldest skyscraper. This view is from the dining room at rehab center where mom is. The coffee here is good. It is from a local roaster Ladro. There are two pots going 24 hours. Reminds me of the days in New York when aspiring actors gathered at Howard Johnson’s- they were open all night and you could drink a gallon of coffee while you practically spent the night talking and talking. I remember real milk in a stainless steel pitcher. My cousin Deborah’s grandfather invented the easy pouring lid. The bed we ordered for mom to have at home is of course late in arriving. She has very good care but she would really like to be home. I hope we can make that happen soon. It is raining here but not too bad. The cousins have organized a happy hour for Kevin’s birthday at the Noble Fir which is a very nice bar in Ballard. I am going to stay with mom. She enjoyed a few summer days outside with the brothers and friends last year at this bar. They have great meat and fish and cheese plates.
