Meyer lemons

I was talking to a European friend, and he had never heard of Meyer lemons. I know they can be hard to get on America’s east coast, so maybe they have not reached Europe yet.

The four on the left, above, are Meyer lemons, grown on a friend’s tree. For contrast, the three in the middle are regular lemons from my own tree. (The lime and mandarins are store-bought.)

Meyer lemons are sweeter and more flavorful than regular ones. They have a thinner skin, tending toward the orange end of yellow, and they are usually smaller than regular lemons. They are great in a variety of desserts: cakes, mousses, etc. Let me know if you have them in your vicinity.
