My daughter has been learning a new language for almost two years already. 

Her mother language is Finnish and she also speaks Swedish as we all have to learn it in elementary school as 2.national language. Vise versa, Swedish speaking finns have to learn Finnish. She also speaks English, as we have to learn atleast one forgein language in school - and most of the families choose English for their children. Some learn also French, German (as I have learned), Spanish (ad our son has learned) or Russian languages in elementary school after the English learning.

This was at first hobby kind of learning Gaelic with a simple mobile app, but now she already can follow simple conversations and speak short sentences in Gaelic language!
