As far as it goes

Despite how hungry he may be Murphy, the community cat, won't come over the threshold. He's very timid and was a rescue cat. He 'left home' about six years ago when a neighbour installed a stairgate for their crawling child.I think he believes that if he came inside, he'd be trapped and never let out again. The neighbours moved about three years ago and quite a few of us said we'd look after him rather than him going back to the rescue centre. He fares very well.
