Late winter at Swaddywell
Soft hues of peach and dove grey as the sun went down over Swaddywell this afternoon. Winter has drained the reeds of colour, but recent work to reveal the cliff faces has revealed the warm ochre of the limestone and the acid-yellow of lichens. The triple-notes of a distant Song Thrush and the insistent chip-chip call of a male Water Rail skulking on the pond edge were signs that spring isn't far away.
