Once upon a time Mr Jagger put Mr Watts' nose out of joint by refering to him as “My drummer”
Charlie came straight back with “Nonsense! You're my singer”.
The sheer arrogance of those front-stage who imagine that the support they receive from farther back is peripheral.
The person at work who understands what I do well enough to correct my work when I ask for guidance has told me that he was never consulted about my appointment. He wasn't told they were interviewing, he wasn't asked which skills were essential / desirable for my role, he wasn't quizzed about the pertinent questions to ask a candidate, and I wasn't required to sit a proficiency test.
During my interview he was asked to pop in and have a little chat with me, but neither of us were made aware that they were considering offering me the job.
He told me today that he is really glad that I can actually do the job, but there was nothing whatsoever in the recruitment process to ensure that result.
I told him I nearly turned the job down because the interview had been so rookie.
to be continued . . .
