Oh Hello
My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,
I went into the office today and had quite a busy day. I think it is upsetting to the other BA's that I'm still working at Shenée speed.
Now that I'm ignoring the rules and doing my own thing it's surprising what you can get done.
I sat next to a woman named Sam. She was grumpy. She has been grumpy almost the whole time I've worked at Kiwibank. It is unsurprising. She may have described our project as "dumpster fire" and a lot of it falls on her.
So at 4pm I asked her how she was doing and she started telling me all about work.
"No, no," I insisted. "But how ARE you?"
She continued on with the list of things she needed to do.
I continued to Shenée her. What was she doing at the weekend? What was she doing after work? Does she have pets? Eventually she shifted her brain out of work gear and dropped what she was doing.
Mission accomplished.
She ended up meeting Jefe for drinks with me. And this was a SUCCESS! They got on like a house on FIRE! They are both Americans! They are both sci-fi nerds! They are both gamers!
I sat and listened. I mean. There is not a whole lot I can add to this.
But I feel good. Jefe made a new friend. Sam is coming to see Ant-Man 3 with us. And I stopped Sam from working.
I got home at about 8pm and Caro picked me up as usual. She was in an exceptionally good mood and I commented on it. She didn't seem to think there was anything unusual about her day. And in fact she hadn't had a particularly good day.
But she was sunny and happy and funny. Maybe this little face on her windowsill is one of the reasons. Maybe DG is the source of fairy-dust in our lives at present.
S.
