A change in the weather
There are at least 6 micro climates in Costa Rica. This morning we left behind the torrential rain in Rio Celeste, and the distinct chill ( I slept with socks on and three blankets) for Rincon de la Vieja where it was dry, sunny and around 38 degree. The programme was changed on account of the rain and our route took us directly to the Santa Rosa National Park where in the heat we enjoyed the longest walk of the trip, around 8k through the dry tropical forest, far enough for most of us. We were in puma and jaguar territory, very close to the Nicaraguan border.
We are now in quite a large hotel complex just outside Rincon de la Vieja, where there is air con, strong WiFi, it has been very patchy the last couple of days, and hot and cold water. Some of us have had swim in the rather nice pool, and the discovered the river that runs through the grounds complete with another alarming suspension bridge which only supports 5 people at any one time.
The blip is the river gorge close by and the extra the volcanic landscape from the highest point in the national park which currently won’t load.
