My neighbour's mason bees have - as is their wont - laid eggs in these holes then carefully sealed them up with mud before buzzing off to find new nests. He does not keep them for honey but for pollination. So our trees are well pollinated but every little hole in our masonry is full of mason bees evaluating it for egg-sheltering potential.
