Maiden Castle

UHB … Continuing my unintentional blips this is my unintentional hillfort blip. Still feeling below par I was glad I was off today as I’ve got quite a lot of leave to take. I put a new shelf up in the little utility room taking advantage of my neighbours being in the throes of moving out so my bothersome noise wasn’t going to upset anyone.
I went in search of a short walk and ended up here. It’s just above Ullswater but I’ve never quite reached it before (last time I was put off by cows). It’s thought that it was a fortified settlement https://www.ullswaterheritage.org/heritage-trail/maiden-castle
Interestingly, from this angle, you can see Carrock Fell in the distance which also has a hill fort on top (a much more defensive position).
I flushed a snipe and got into a staring contest with a deer.
