A whole month without the Binos to watch! Michty me!
What's a boy to do but gather up his lads and whisk* them off to Methil in search of 3 points?
The delights of a bus journey through the South East corner of Fife is always a delight. Such colourful characters one encounters on these charabang outings.
After a brief stroll around Leven, its time to be a leavin ' for the match. In for 1445 and my long time fitba pal from ooooh way back when I was Tom's age is also in attendance so we park up next to him.
Not the strongest of line ups. Fotheringham has been recalled to Tannadice, presumably his wondrous showings for Stirling have caught the eye of his parent club as they slide towards the foot of the table and the Arabs think he might be their saviour. Just like we thought he'd be our saviour. Top scorer Dale C is also AWOL, a niggle so the rumours go. And Jojo Mcg is available after suspension but is on the bench.
No matter. East Fife have taken 5 points from their previous 27 available. A nailed on win. For sure.
It starts well. Grieg Spence makes it 2 goals in 2 games and all is well. Until the ref intervenes. Paul McLean brings down an East Fife forward, but the ref waves a yellow at Cammy Clark who's already been booked! Off he goes, and the manager also gets a yellow for trying to explain the error to the ref. 11 more bookings follow. East Fife inevitably equalise but Stirling too have chances. It finishes 1-1, the saving grace being Dumbarton lost a 95th minute goal to draw away to Stenny. Phew!
Home we traipse, and onto the sofa to regroup; there's more football coming in February after a month off in January.
