Lifer

I met KC at Springfield Park cafe and then wandered over to Walthamstow Wetlands. As we chatted and walked besides a little river I saw a flash of blue and turned to find a kingfisher on a branch over the water. I was som excited. I'd only ever seen a kingfisher before in California and they are very different to these gorgeous birds. We watched as it dived and caught a fish. Amazing.
KC is not considering getting binoculars as I introduced her to the pleasures of sighting birds.
We also came across a super friendly robin, watched a heron take flight, and glimpsed a great crested grebe.

Several pints were imbibed in a pub (in a converted public toilet) were enjoyed later.

I was warm and sunny and it was a wonderful day.
