This years half term football outing part II was.... Burnley v Watford. Sadly booked before the Bonnyrigg v Binos game was rescheduled but also before Ryan Porteous had signed for Watford so Tom was conflicted at missing an Albion awayday but delighted to get the opportunity to see Porto in Life After Hibs.
A false start ( forgot the insulin ...ffs) so on and off a 19 to get the next 19 and get the train with 10 minutes to spare.
Into Burnley via Preston and we checked in to wur lodgings for the night and set off along the Leeds - Liverpool canal to forage for supplies.
After a period of quiet reflection we set about Alex maiden voyage through chips and gravy ( a lukewarm response) and onwards through the night to the bright lights of Turf Moor.
A crowd of nearly 19,000 were there to see if Burnley could set a championship record for the most consecutive victories (11)
Spoiler alert. The record still stands. It was not broken.
Burnley hit the bar within 45 seconds, then Watford took the lead after half an hour following a goalkeeping blunder.
After relentless pressure Burnley finally equalised in the 95th minute to maintain a 608 point lead over the chasing pack. More gripping than Saturday's encounter in Glasgow
Porto was magnificent, though. With another recent acquisition accompanying him in Central defence (Hoedt) they looked unruffled, bar the opening seconds where Barnes nearly embarrassed him.
