Catkins and Dog-kin

Amongst all the bare threes around it, this tree looked golden with catkins dripping from its branches. I saw it on the wooded hillside above our house where one or two other trees were also turning yellowish but not as fine as this one. Bertie and I were out for our afternoon walk and I saw that he was also entranced by the sight in front of us (extra), or perhaps (more likely) it was the scent of a deer.
