Looking after number one

The pic is leafy Jordanhill Station in Glasgow, around 8.30 this evening. It's been a beautiful day, the kind which makes you believe that summer has been heralded. The platform sign framing has number one, and it brought to mind the old line about looking after number one. It's a thought and sentiment that are frankly anathema to me - nature of my job and I don't revel in the role - but something happened to me late this afternoon that made me think of it. The tricky part to this of course is that some look after number one always, 24/7, 365 a year and the rest of us just put up with it. In this case, no more. Won't go into it here, buy me a drink and I'll un-literally spill all. Onwards and upwards.
