So the sun shone and the dresses and hats and suits were brushed off and the bunting flew and the children waved and the cameras clicked and everyone smiled and it all went beautifully. And the royal visitors left. And it was good.

Then, it rained. But people still smiled and it was still good.

And later, while the crew relaxed in a local hostelry still wearing their smart trousers and jumpers and ties, the pagers went off again and with just a drysuits hiding their smart gear they launched the boats yet again.

Almost certainly the best dressed crew in the country!
