Carnage
A work crew of some sort came through the fire road by our house where we (and many locals) often take a quiet walk through the woods. Seldom have I seen such a terrible hack job of seemingly wanton destruction. So many trees along the road cut down, often at waist hight, with debris strewn about all over. There was very little storm damage (and much of what there was has been left untouched), there are no power lines, the road was completely passable, culverts had recently been replaced - there is simply no rhyme or reason to the amount of trees that were taken down. This spot is where I often might sit for a few minutes before heading back home, and there is no discernible purpose for these trees back from the road to be taken down. The park normally does a decent job with resource management and cultivation of the "visitor experience," making the lack of care shown here not just upsetting and sad, but puzzling beyond comprehension. The scars created by this lack of concern and respect will probably take years to heal.
