The Trent Valley Noon Column
This sculpture is carved from English Oak and is part of the National Forest Company and Landshapes Project. The sun will shine at true noon through the vertical for ten to fifteen minutes. True noon is at 1.06 in Summer time and at 12.06 at Midwinter. The sculptor is David Nash and it is one of six sculptures in the National Forest.
I was at Croxall Lakes Staffordshire Wildlife Trust reserve.
I walked further than I’d planned and I was rather pleased with myself for returning to the field where I’d been chased by cattle a few years ago. I’m a Staffordshire lass and I’m not scared of cows but I confess I ran away when they approached me. There was nobody for miles around and I wasn’t taking any chances…..
