Make do and mend

I spotted some insulation foam in a skip so I broke a bit off and brought it home to make a new cockpit canopy for my current favourite toy. The old one was made from half a mineral water bottle and it looked even more crap than the rest of the model. I also painted it with house paint so still haven't really spent any money on it. It'll look okay from 50 feet away. It'll look faster too - and it will be because I've also got over a kilo of lead to bolt into the fuselage.
There was a piece on the radio last night about 3D printing. This will be great... but I do wonder if future generations will lose the ability to work with their hands - unless it's a mouse or a keyboard.
