Looking down...
...towards Wooler from the track past Humbleton Hill. MrM and I walked the Humbleton round yet again, and this afternoon it turned out to be a very enjoyable wildlife walk.
When we reached the Common we couldn't resist looking to see if there were any red squirrels, and there were three. Most of the time they were on the ground finding their stashes of nuts, digging them up, and then eating! (They were quite a long way away and the light was fading, so the extras are very grainy.)
On the pond three teals were paddling around. Seen them elsewhere in the area, but never on the pond before! We spotted another first by the pond - a stoat in his white 'ermine' coat ran down to the water, stopped very briefly to drink, and continued running to the far side of the pond. Seen white stoats in the snowy Scottish Highlands before, but never in Northumberland. Finally, on the way down the main track, two roe deer were grazing close by.
Home just in time to do some washing up before dashing out to yoga. Quite a relaxing session, thank goodness!
