The Pike

I'd never heard of  Gabriele d'Annunzio until I visited his home and garden, Vittoriale degli Italiani, at Gardone Riviera on Lake Garda last year. See the extra on 30 June 22.


I saw this biography in the Oxfam bookshop. He was an audacious and talented poet and writer but also deeply unpleasant. Should be an interesting read.
