Bertie is a very inquisitive little dog. If he hears an unusual sound, he has to investigate and satisfy his curiosity. We were out for a walk in the woods behind our house in the afternoon when somebody called to drop something off at the holiday house at the bottom of the hill. Bertie just had to check out the source of the voices so I snapped him in “nosey neighbour” mode.

It was a lovely sunny day, mild enough to do a bit of gardening so I decided to do an hour or so on a particular border so that we could enjoy the spring flowers coming through without the weeds hiding them from view. Four and a half hours later, when the hill was beginning to cast a shadow over the garden, I thought that I had done enough!
