Catkins
A glorious winter's day, perfect to walk the Humbleton round with MrM. We took the path up beside the youth hostel, much of which is lined by hazel bushes covered with bright yellow catkins swaying in the breeze.
On the Common we stopped for a while to watch several red squirrels (at least four) rooting around in the undergrowth, though one briefly went on to one of the feeders. Unfortunately all too far away for a decent shot with my modest camera.
Just for a little variation, from the Common we cut up through the woods rather than following the road any further. As we walked down the track down to High Humbleton, MrM thought there was someone at the top of Humbleton Hill, a very strangely shaped 'person'. Through the zoom lens it became obvious that someone has built a high pile of large rocks!
