Shock, horror! Giant giraffe steals handbags from visitors to sleepy market town.

A quiet day out in North Yorkshire for Mavis Doorbuttle and her friend Edna Redner turned into a nightmare when a huge mechanical giraffe grabbed their handbags and made off up the High Street. Drivers swerved to avoid the monster as it careered along the road leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. It was last seen entering the Castle grounds where if not quickly apprehended would be difficult to find in the dense woodland beyond. People are being warned not to approach the giraffe if seen and David Attenborough has been contacted for advice.
