Gnarly Wood...

....that is both smooth and rough.  

I took a walk at Dyke Marsh this morning and did not find a single critter to photograph.  I did see so many downed trees and pieces of driftwood which captured my attention.  As luck would have it, I checked the Mono-Monday theme when I got home and thought this might be suitable.
