A memorial and a monument
We're on a journey north but stopped at Langholm for a walk up Whita Hill. It's said to be 'the best known of the rounded hills which cradle the town of Langholm, topped by the massive Malcolm Monument', which commemorates Major General Sir John Malcolm, a soldier and MP during the time of the Empire. The blip shows a memorial on the lower slopes of the hill to a local poet, Hugh MacDiarmid.
