Five family members went to my uncle's house - sorting unopened post into filing and items that need dealing with, putting on a load of washing, mending the heating so that it can come on twice a day to avoid frozen pipes, carting heaps and heaps of old newspapers and promotional junk to the recycling bins across the road, finding among them one essential missing document that I started looking for last October, making sure the keys all work, hanging up the washing to dry next time the heating comes on...
On our way out, Secondborn re-arranged the living room furniture so that it looks slightly more homely, even though it seems unlikely that he will return there.
