An ordinary life....

By yon bonnie banks...

As I mentioned in yesterdays blip our nephew Andrew and fiancee Nikki is getting married on the banks of Loch Lomond with beautiful Ben Lomond as the backdrop, in July 2024.

Ele and Kenny (his parents :-) are renting a lodge beside the venue for three days and we thought we might do the same.  That would mean we would be there the day before the wedding, get together for a family dinner the night before, not have to worry about being late for the ceremony, have a short distance to stagger at the end of the night, and be able to have a relaxing day the following day.   The only issue is we have to be sure the path from the lodge to the venue is suitable for my wheels.  No point in renting the lodge if there are steps on the way.  So we thought we would have a wee trip to Loch Lomond with Ele and Kenny to see the lodges and the path and of suitable, get booked.

But first we had lunch at the golf club :-)

It was a lovely day.  Fairly mild and the sun shining.  By the time we got to Loch Lomond it was a bit grey with a mist hiding the top of Ben Lomond but that couldn't take away from the beauty of the view.  I really hope the weather is lovely for their wedding (if it's not they can get married indoors) as the setting is stunning.

After seeing where the ceremony will take place, we headed to the lodges and found Ele and Kenny's and also the lodge we'd looked at online.  By chance an official looking lady came out of one of the lodges and said hello.  Turns out she is one of the owners of the lodges.  She couldn't show us inside the lodge we're interested in as there are guests in it at the moment, but she did show us an empty one.  They are perfect AND the path to the venue is step free so we will go ahead and book :-))

Afterwards we went for a mooch around Lomond Shores and had coffee.  Took this shot of Ben Lomond from there.  The mist had lifted and the late afternoon sun was highlighting the peak.

The sun was just starting to set as we headed home.  If we'd been 20 minutes earlier in our journey we would have made a detour to Balmaha to try and capture the sunset properly but I knew we would be too late so we just headed home.

Have a delicious mindful Chef dinner of rump steak with roasted plums and dauphinoise potatoes.

A good weekend :)
