This is a memorial dedicated to the American airforce who dropped food parcels on West Berlin in the aftermath of 1945. Food was in short supply, electricity and water were cut off. People would have starved without the support of the American, British and French forces. It is called Luftbrücke-air bridge.

Walked to Tempelhofer Feld today. It was the central airport in Berlin and the building has been taken over by the Polizei. The airport grounds have been turned into a public park. Never walked on a runway before so it was a first. There is a refugee camp in the grounds which I don't remember seeing the last time I was here. I feel very humbled by the relative privilege I have compared to the privations of all the refugees and people seeking asylum.
