Take 3 - Trip to Ballathie Woods

Lost 2 previous attempts with writing so hope this works!!

It was a day for music.

Strolling along the High Street this morning I could hear the most beautiful singing coming from further along the street so headed towards it. It was a Soprano called Kyla Lingley, who is touring the city's of Scotland singing outdoors. It's a charity tour for Breakthrough Cancer and she has raised £13,000 so far. I sat down on the bench facing her and closed my eyes as she sung Hallelujah. I have no particular memories associated with this song but the words and her beautiful voice, sun shining; I was moved to tears. She also sung another couple of songs too before I headed off to Nero for my coffee and Lemon Drizzle Cake (they don't need to ask my order anymore!!). I turned round as I stood in the queue and standing next to me was Kyla, so I asked her a load of questions and found out a bit more about her. Fabulous lady:-)

Later, bundled the boys and Breagha into the car with their swords and headed off to Bluebell Wood at Ballathie, about 15 minutes from the house. But, no bluebells as yet, the cold weather has stunted the growth I think - perhaps another two weeks. But the boys had a brilliant time playing in on the roots of a VERY old Beech tree. They also had fun skipping through the long grass, but it was this one of Ben I liked the best, although this one with the sword was a close second.. I love walking in this wood. It's so peaceful, loads of twittering birds and green is such a soothing colour (it's my favourite colour!).

The other brilliant musical person I heard was tonight hearing Rod Stewart singing live in an intimate venue in London which was on Radio two. I loved Rod from the 70s when he was at his best as Rocker Rod. Don't like the American Songbook stuff but no getting away from it he has continued to draw in the crowds at concerts all over the world. I first saw him in 76 in the Caird Hall in Dundee and will never forget him kicking out football into the audience and the song I Don't Wanna Talk about it as the stage was dark and there were stars in the backdrop. ...... Lovely memories.

Phew - rumbled on tonight - if you lasted, well done:D
