Following the sun .

The sun is on the house in the morning so that's the time to be in and around the house, eating a leisurely breakfast among other things .

I managed an early walk from the house  across the fields , taking in several snowy slopes, a stream almost frozen over but with a slight flow visible in the middle where the skin of ice was very thin , a disused railway track and a definite hill.

A hoar frost meant that there were delicate icy crystals on the branches of trees and bushes which glistened in the sunlight. The stands of  trees looked powdery white from a distance  but close up all those tiny, fragile ice crystals sparkled beautifully.

The photo was taken at the start of a walk from the homestead up another  hill , this time just Keith and I. We wore snowshoes and followed the sun , spotting some elk running in the distance as we reached the summit. We had left Dave preparing the sledging run and testing it out. Meanwhile Jan went off to town to procure more supplies for hungry guests.

It turns out that my sister , who is due to join us on Sunday ,thought she was flying out on Monday so there have been some hasty rearrangements made. What a mix up but at least when the plane arrives late Sunday evening she will be on it . Phew !!

After eating another delicious evening meal together we were treated to a  video call from  the Chesterlings who were here so recently and then a call from Jan and Dave's brother ,Pete, with a bit of cheerful news re his quest to buy a new home.
We  then played a few rounds of Mexican Trains before I took myself off to bed to nurse this nasty head cold , a most unwelcome visitor that doesn't wish to leave .
Wishing you all a merry weekend xx

Gratefuls
That we spotted my sisters error in time re travel,
That the Chesterling children know their Swedish family,
For a good supply of soft tissues on hand .
