One Of Those Days

We don't often need a scanner/ copier but it is really useful when you do.
This one was suspected to be on the blink and was also running low on ink.
SWMBO bought some more ink and this morning I went to see how it was working.
I put a picture in and hit the copy button.
It scanned, took in the paper and falteringly printed half the picture (faintly).
I changed the ink .......... nothing.
It would take the paper through and pretend it was printing (it wasn't). It made all the right sounds but not a drop of ink was put on paper.
It is now waiting to go to the 'recycling depot'.

Time spent at the lathe wasn't much better.
The big bit of Elm took a bit of work to get the outside shaped and smoothed - but I managed.
I turned the piece around and went to take out the screws holding the faceplate on.
3 of them ... the heads sheared off!!!!!! That left 2 inches of metal (3 times) requiring dug out without damaging the tools. Not easy. During the process, the wood decided to leave the lathe and head for the outside world.
I retrieved it fearing the worst but it was actually virtually unmarked.
Discretion being the better part of valour, I left it and went in for a cuppa.
Tomorrow is another day ... and one which will see me putting the new blade on the bandsaw.

I got a letter from the hospital today as well .... to go to the Department of Psychiatry of Older Age (how is that for a title?) to get the results of my memory test.
