Zopilote
It was a good three mile walk on the path between the ocean and the farm. We saw gulls and a hawk, this turkey vulture, some cormorants, white herons, an egret, and a birder who had noted 39 different species in his little book. He carried a camera with a monstrous camo-covered lens and a pair of substantial binoculars, much more gear than I'm able to tote.
Because of the lay of the land, the seagulls fly by at eye level--the ocean is far below us. The heron was very territorial and wouldn't let heron #2 rest in his field--he actually growled at the intruder as he chased him away. It wasn't very sunny, but the air was invigorating and being by the sea is always exciting.
After lunch we went to get a load of free bricks from someone in the neighborhood. The hardest part was backing into the driveways, both hers and ours. There's only so many times you can hit the curb before you give it up. It ended up being easier to leave the car closer to the street and use a hand truck rather than shorten the distance. The whole job wasn't as difficult as I'd feared, but now I'm good and tired.
We may be looking at a new storm. It's been grey all day, and now so windy. Today's low was 35 degrees.
