Dogpole

After dropping Owen off at nursery I took the opportunity to get a tyre changed on the car -a puncture I've been having to top up at least weekly. While I was waiting I wander into town and found myself walking down Dogpole towards Wyle Cop...Shrewsbury does have some odd street names.


The most prevalent [reason] is that the town walls, which used to cross the street, had a really small door which was nicknamed the duck hole, because unless one fancied head injury, ducking was a requirement for entry. Over time, Duck Hole became Dogpole.
