Dambuster Lancaster Flypast

The 70th Anniversary of the Dambuster raid today. I popped up to the Hillside at Curbar to see them fly through the Valley towards Chatsworth House. So although I am a tree hugging liberal pacifist I have always had a soft spot for the Lancaster, growing up as a Forces Brat in the RAF probably helped a fascination for machines as well as being surrounded by a family of Aircraft engineers and designers. None of which got passed down to me gene wise ;-) The Tornados were great to see especially as my Dad used to have an involvement with them when he was at RAF Marham.

I have blipped the Dam they trained against in preparation for the mission.

I visited the Möhne Dam back in the early 70's when we lived in Germany and saw the impact the bomb had done to the wall and to the local population.

Off to Liverpool on Saturday to see the Look 13 international photo festival as I have couple of friends doing talks there at the Bluecoat so looking forward to that visit.
