Mares tails …

….. ….. ….. streaming from the nor’west over the Wakatipu Basin. That was taken this morning. The wind is up now, the clouds are thick, but no sign of any rain. Maybe overnight? Hope so!

We walked up Tobins Track really early this morning, and then I went to the Village Book Club, the first time in well over a year. My contribution was telling them about all the books I’ve been reading about Shackleton! and Elephant Island, South Georgia and the Endurance.
It went down quite well, apart from one woman saying that she didn’t think that women would cope with wearing the same clothes for 7 months. Fair comment but in those circumstances you wouldn’t get a choice!
David Attenborough has been on the TV this evening - there’s been a strong Antarctic feel to today.
