Fungi.

Winter of 2009/10 killed of our four metre tall Cabbage Tree. I reluctantly cut it down at ground level in the hope that it would break out again, which it did.
The trunk was then cut into short lengths and piled up in a corner of the garden to make a home for bugs etc.
The big bonus has been the fungi which have appeared this spring.
I've no idea what the are but we think they are interesting and also attractive.
Any fungi experts out there in blipland?
