28/365 Blue Tit

Today was the first time for a while that Jayne and I were both off together and also the first day all week that I was able to get away from having to be around the house.

We decided to pop over to Compton Verney for a short walk around the grounds and to have a coffee whilst there. We chose here instead of Batsford Arboretum as we needed to call in at Waitrose afterwards to pick up a parcel and get a bit of shopping. Batsford was in the opposite direction.

The lake still had a layer of thin ice over it in places although the part in the Old Meadow was completely covered. One of the swans was making a half hearted attempt to break it in places but gave up after a while. Still no grebes yet.

A friend of ours who works there says that the grebes have been disturbed by the 'wild swimming' which has been allowed in the lake for the last couple of years. Maybe that is the reason they're not showing at the moment so we'll have to wait and see.

Blue tit was on the feeders by the spotting hide and the extra was taken from the bridge with a diagonal, manual focus, fish eye lens.
