Mornings in the outskirts of Moscow #2
Another bike ride; another blipfoto. Viewers living in deep space might have listened by now to the record bolted to the side of the Voyager space craft that was sent away forty years ago to bring the good news about humanity's existence to people we have not yet had the pleasure of meeting. On the disc was music from every nationality in the world, including a Soviet selection (approved by the Kremlin: this was done in the 1970s). That was a song called "Podmoskovnye Vyechera", or "Evenngs in the Outskirts of Moscow" (as it is usually translated).
I live in the outskirts of Moscow - Khimki to be precise - and my route round Sheremeyevo takes me at one point through an old dacha settlement (at Podrezkova). Hence my title for this sort of pic.
In the field behind me as I took this picture, I heard a corncrake croaking away, the first this year. It was about 10.30 a.m. (Note: the RSPB say you need to listen at night to hear them. Ha! ha! what do they know?!)
