Scarlet Tanager

I have never seen a Scarlet Tanager before! I was at the Arboretum, trying to get a shot of the Tree Sparrows when a couple who were out walking told me they had seen a Scarlet Tanager. As we were talking, the man found this bright red fellow in a nearby tree. I followed him as he flew to a couple of trees and then he sat very patiently for a few minutes while we waited for the sun to come out from behind a cloud so he could really show off his beautiful color.
This photo is really, really cropped but I had to use it, I was so excited to see this bird.

Beautiful evening to be at the Arb. The tulips are ready to peak this weekend. The red bud and magnolia tress are in full glory.
