Scarlet Tanager--Female

We were out early to the Rail Trail from Station Road, and this was one of the first good birds we saw. We haven't seen any other Scarlet Tanagers (Piranga olivacea) at all so far this year, and this female--so different from the male--passed on quickly. To our knowledge they've never nested along the trail, but one never knows. N.B: the catchlight in the eye is from the low sun, not flash.

We found a Baltimore Oriole nest--I may blip it in the next few days, and there were quite a number of Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, as well as three Veerys.
