Test

I'm very chuffed.  I've just watched a YouTube video in which the presenter informed me that when I "zoom" my fixed-lens Fuji X100V the camera crops the scene, as I thought, but then upsizes the image to the original dimensions (6240 x 4160 pixels).  I thought that the camera merely cropped, losing the bits that weren't in the "zoomed" image.  So I tried it, and he was right.  What's more, the image quality does not suffer from this upsizing.  The  blip shows the same scene (the bottom of my iMac) taken with two different "zooms" – 35mm (original) and 70mm.  I'd say that the difference was negligible.  The original is at the bottom, if anyone is interested.

I'm impressed.  I'll aim to use my "zoom" more often now.
