One of numerous species of acacia in Australia

My mother told me they were 'fairies' powder puffs when I was small.
There was a huge tree smothered in blossoms at the corner of our street in Valley Road, Springwood in the blue mountains.   Wonder if it is still there?
Anyway this sprig is ready for Australia Day.
