Pluses and minuses

Took hound for an early morning walk.  It was curtailed by black ice on the paths.  The worst surfaces were the black ones put on the paths following 5g cable work.  It's too smooth and slippery when icy.  Minus

By the time I headed to town the surfaces had thawed out.  Plus.  But it's been a bleak day. Minus. 

Plus:  yesterday put a message out online for a dehumidifier on Nextdoor.  I received a message back that someone had one to sell for £25 and could deliver it!  I snapped it up.  He delivered it at 1pm today, I gave him £30.  It works and is running now.

Minus: our good plumber Robert, who is much in demand didn't make it today but - plus - will reschedule for Friday afternoon. 

Everything seemed to be ok until washing up noticed water pressure was low.  Asked OH to check taps in loft were all off and I checked first floor bathroom.  Only other location was garage.  Went to check.

Minus: tap in garage was gushing and the floor of garage and items from OH's office since retirement, were wet.  As it was after 7pm our regular plumbers weren't working so had to Google an emergency plumber.  

Plus:  emergency plumber arrived within 30 minutes.  During that 30 minutes OH was attempting to divert water flow into the garden as the isolating tap wouldn't turn.  Eventually fixed hose to pipe instead of relying on buckets.

Between 8.15 and 9pm the pipe was sorted and capped.  We wanted a temporary measure as it needs an updating overhaul. 

It's only Wednesday and it feels a long week.

I'm decompressing for a while with the hound's head on my lap. Massive plus!

Tomorrow has to be an uneventful day.
