Another Day

"I've Been Everywhere Man!"

I literally have been everywhere today, and the last few weeks.
I have travelled in circles, and half the time do not know whether I am north, south east or west. There are so many roads, and little villages in the West Dorset area, it is so confusing.

Anyway today we started out and went over Eggardon Hill to Hooke, where we took some of the bluebells in the rain yesterday. The effect today on the bluebells was not the same with sunshine and shade. We moved on to Higher Langdon, where Rob and Alice farmed before they came to NZ to live. Saw the very large house that they built. Then we went down through Beaminster to Broadwindsor where we had a bowl of soup. Whilst there it hailed!! All sorts of weather we are having.

Next port of call was to Lewsdon, a large hill, with more bluebells. Quite a few walkers with dogs came through. Alice found a fox hole, and waited patiently for a fox to come out- hopefully with cubs - Unfortunately wishful thinking. I think we would have to be the early in the morning with our camo gear on !!

Next was Pilsden, over the Marshwood Vale and down in to the vale to Bridport (Trish and Terry were born here) onto Bradpole. Then Loders to see the church where Rob and Alice were married. A long walk up the path there for a bride. Take a look at Dups blip to see the church.
Loders was another quaint village, different to others, difficult to photograph with its narrow streets, and even cows for milk supply in the middle of the village.
Next port of call was to Uploders, (as it suggests up the road), to where Alice was brought up on a farm called Upton Manor Farm. Lots of buildings, a wonderful setting, and a little river running by. Then to see the school she attended at Askerswell, now made in to a residential home.

We then drove up to the main road, and through Winterborne Abbas and home to Weymouth.
Worn out again. How nice to come back to our digs, and Trish had a beautiful meal cooked for us.

The sheep in this picture are on the farm at Langdon, where Rob originally lived and farmed, and now his brother Bill farms it.
The two cock pheasants were fighting in the street at Beaminster.
The farm outlook is from Lewsdon Hill, where we photographed bluebells.
