13 miles!!!

13 miles................... that's how far we've walked today. 13 miles = a human who has sore feet and a sore throat though I'm not sure the walk can be blamed for that. 13 miles = a Collie pup who has been in bed for the last four hours.

Our route took us all over the place. Walked to Roseburn where we joined the cycle path (or shared pathways as they're officially called) and walked all the way to Newhaven. From Newhaven we walked to the mouth of the Waters of Leith. The plan was to walk all the way to Slateford along the Waters of Leith and then come home via the canal.

Unfortunately, when we got to the bridge near the Dragonara Hotel (think it's called the Britannia now), there was a barrier across the entrance to the bridge with a sign, saying that the path was closed due to floods which had caused the bridge to collapse. (see extras). Interestingly, there didn't appear to be a barrier at the other side of the bridge, but hey ho, Ann said we weren't going to risk it.

By then we'd been walking for about three hours and my human had sore feet so she wasn't in the mood to go hunting for an alternative route which would have added an even longer distance onto our walk, so we just decided to head home.

Got home about 2.30pm, I gobbled up my breakfast which I hadn't bothered to eat earlier, and Ann had some soup and then lay on the sofa catching up on TV. Best laid plans and all that................ my human told me she'd be going to the supermarket this afternoon, but honestly after walking 13 miles, she didn't have the energy to go anywhere............... #itsnofungettingold

Oh and I think OK my human thinks it should be recorded on BLIP, how naughty I was today.................... When we were walking beside the Waters of Leith at the Leith end of the river I spotted a black bird/duck standing on the other side of the river bank. I decided it needed chasing so I launched myself into the fast flowing river and got swept to the other side. I was swimming but to be honest the water was flowing faster than my paws were paddling. And obviously as soon as I got out of the water the bird/duck flew away. I chased it for a while, but then the riverbank ran out because we were at a part of the river where there were buildings backing right onto the river. To say Ann was angry very upset is an understatement. There was only a little bit of land at the other side of the river and she didn't know if it was going to be safe for me to swim back. Long story short................. I did manage to swim back, albeit I got swept down the river a little way. This whole incident lasted less than 5 mins but then I got clipped back onto my lead for a little while because Ann was so angry very upset with me.

…...........And that's been our day. I've just got out of bed to gobble up my dinner but I'm back in bed now.

I've had a lovely long walk today.  Today has been fun, fun, fun!!!
