Behold, the Sun!

..on a snowy morn. 

Last night's snowfall left a winter wonderland for us to wake up to...snow piled up on branches, bird feeders, and fences..a blanket of white with a blue sky! We have waited a long time for that combination! It was the perfect time to stroll through the wintry woods at our local conservation area..so I did...

The geese, ducks, chickadees, cardinals, blue jays, nuthatches, doves and woodpeckers were all out in full force.. which made for easy pickings for a blip! 

The catch of the day for me though, had to be the pileated woodpecker... It was not a great shot; he was really high up in his tree and partially hidden behind the smaller branches..and all I had was my iPhone and Canon pocket camera...no big telephoto...but still, it made my day to at least capture him at all! 

Of course, as it is wont to do, the sun disappeared after lunch and we were right back in gray country, but at least we got a glimpse of what could be coming...Blue skies and sunshine are still out there somewhere!
