Busy Dog Day
Met baby, squirrel,
robins, dogs, geese and police.
Fun but worn out now.
Leo has had a very sociable day, we met my home-start family and had a walk in the woods, saw dogs and dog walkers, squirrels, birds etc and then in the afternoon we went into town to the fishmongers and greengrocers and had a walk by the canal, meeting lots more people and dogs plus the inevitable geese (Leo not a fan). On the way back up to the town centre there was a stall run by the police, offering home safety tips and they spotted him peeking out of the sling and called us over. They made a big fuss of him and I was happy to tick the "socialising with Police in yellow jackets" box :-D
We have also had a bit less nipping, I'm trying to give him less opportunity and respond more when he does it.
A friend pointed out I've become one of those people who only talks about their dog!! You can trust your oldest friends to tell you how it is :-D I have clearly not learnt my lesson though, sorry! I'll work on it!
Ben has been tricky again, we're back to questioning what the cause is, the escalating behaviour correlates with his new timetable at school which is really fun and exciting and school say it has reduced incidents on site but maybe we're seeing it spill over at home?? Personally I still think it's hormones and growing out of his medications, as the behaviour began to worsen as he had a growth spurt over Christmas.. but obviously also there's there dog.. he seems very accepting of Leo, flitting between disinterested and mildly curious, certainly nothing anxious, so it seems unlikely but it is still a change in the home. We see the psychiatrist AND have his EHCP annual review next Tuesday (that'll be a fun day..) so hopefully we'll brainstorm something.. In the meantime, it's all a bit exhausting :-(
