The Tide's Out
Met up with a pal from university days and we went up Dumbarton Rock which was a strong defensive position protecting the river Clyde. The tide was out which showed how narrow the navigable channel is. Downstream at Greenock was the Queen Mary 2 which unlike its namesake was not built in Clydebank.
Later we went to the local Maritime Museum which houses Denny's experimental tank and much else besides. I was particularly struck by all the complicated calculations and design work carried out without the aid of computers and 3D printers. Very impressive.
