Teamwork

Geese are remarkably efficient when flying together. By flying in a V formation, it’s estimated the whole flock can fly up to 70% further with the same energy than one goose flying solo.

Something to do with reduced air resistance etc. I also read somewhere that the flock interchange the leader when tired to keep the flock moving and if one goose has to rest or is injured, at least 2 geese will wait with it until it’s ready to rejoin the flock.
